I just find it intriguing how we are analyzing the word Bar-be-que. lol. This is a great way to wake up ... with giggles. hehe.
Anywho, as far as what clubfest is. Each semester, NYU holds an event either in Coles gym (during the Fall semester) or in the 4th floor of Kimmel (during the spring semester) called Clubfest. The purpose of the event is to expose all the available clubs on campus and to give a chance for students to talk and join them. Hundreds of clubs usually participate in these events in order to attract more membership. If you have time, stop by the 4th floor of kimmel and check out all the clubs NYU has to offer, including Club Anime (yippee!). It usually goes from 3pm to 7pm during the spring semester. Again, if you have any questions, comments, or simply want to stop by to support us (aka take free pocky and other candies from each club), you are more than welcome to. Hope this answer your question.

HAHA...okay. I'm done. I quit. See, that's what I originally thought.. But then came the internet sarcasm/humor which I didn't catch and in turn made me look like a FOOL! It's okay, I'm just glad I got that BBQ monkey off my back. I couldn't even get a good night's sleep because of it(had a weird dream about taking a Trig class and then failing the first assignment and losing all my scholarships lol). Yes MetalGearSilux that does answer my question. I just have one more; when is it? I would love to go support! I also was told there is a Brazilian Ju Jitsu Club/Karate Club....and I need to find that one as well. 0.o Oh and Sapphi, where can I get those textbooks? And about how much do you think they are? Thaaaaanks.

I heard from friends that Rosetta Stone is actually very helpful for learning Japanese. Never tried it though, so can't say for myself.
@sapphi: Textbooks... psha....

Yookoso is used among many college students so most stores have it cept NYU bookstore. NYU bookstore sells Genki for like 40 bucks or something. I would download audio lessons from the internet to help with pronounciation. You could probably torrent the bootlegs of all of the above. You really should look into torrents. It will make your life a lot easier.
There's also websites like Japanesepod101 Yookoso (this is a website too lol) Tangorin (superb dictionary) japanese.about.com and much more to abet your learning process.
@zack: Rosetta Stone is one of the worst things you can use to learn Japanese. I know, I've tried it. It's not even efficient, it would take like 300 hours of Rosetta stone to learn 3 weeks of Japanese from a class or a textbook or even individual study. Try it yourself.
Things like that even fail to teach you the proper grammar structure of a sentence. So you're crippled in teaching/conjugating for yourself in the future. With Rosetta it literally takes like 10 minutes to learn simple "the ball is on a table" (textbook = 30 seconds) but it doesn't explain why or teach you that many other words at an appreciable pace. Even Muzzy is better lol. Disclaimer: if you want to learn real Japanese, stay away from Rosetta.

You said that many people would disagree with you, but now you are acting like your way of learning is optimal for everyone. Textbooks are static, it follows a very memorizing form of learning. I find that doesn't help me unless im studying for a test. Regardless, I haven't used it, but if I were to seriously try to learn Japanese, RS would be my first choice. Besides, textbooks are made from trees. Save the trees so they can be cut down to make manga and magazines and other cool stuff... (bO_O)b

Thaaaaanks. Clubfest will be taking place on Thursday, January 21st. I'll make another thread with more details such as where in the auditorium we will set up, etc. As for the Brazilian Ju Jitsu Club and Karate Club, yep they do exist. I'm currently the president of the Karate club (We are called Martial Arts club). When you get to clubfest, you will see rows of tables, each having a club representative answering any question as well as having people provide his/her email to send them more info. No doubt, you ill find any club that interest you. The event is very organized so you won't miss any club you wanted to be a part of.

Ah! Why is my life so easy!? That's awesome that your the president of the Martial Arts Club. You have very good taste sir! I want to join Martial Arts Club and Anime Club and whaddayaknow. Awesome. I'm so happy right now. ;D Now as to the learning Japanese... haha I'm still conflicted. Well it looks like the textbooks are my only option because my rosetta stone isn't working. I don't know if I'm the best at picking up a textbook and teaching myself though. I guess we'll see.

lol @ Zack. Exactly!!! You're opinion = psht, gosh!! No but sorry if my opinion came on too strong, like you, I tend to think I am right on certain topics for my own reasons. I was not contradicting myself, but further elaborating on my opinion with the disclaimer that some people would disagree with me. Hug. I agree with saving the trees. I would much rather steal from large corporations and use a .pdf textbook were it convenient. hei: I'll be happy to tutor you. I actually wanted to start some sort of peer-study Japanese program in Genshiken. Of course if you're serious about it you could always take a class. @luis: Can you learn Wushu so you can teach me? I wanna go to Club fest! I totally want to join the Republican/Democrat clubs....

Name your date. Also, just to avoid diversion, create a new thread for the Kenshin marathon Chad.
