Hey all, name's Nick. Yesterday was actually the first meeting I attended due to a busy lifestyle Fall Semester. Yet I didn't get to introduce myself properly mainly because when I walked in, I had the unpleasant experience of gazing upon "Trapeze" or whatever its called, and felt a little disturbed. That and I just couldn't find the right time to say hi XD. Btw, I was the guy wearing the Yankee hat. Anyways...where to begin? Sophomore CAS undecided. Asian (Korean more specifically; 안녕하세요!). My first experience with anime came roughly ten years ago when watching Dragonball Z on Toonami. However, the two shows that caught my attention and caused me to ask "Hmm what is this anime exactly?" were: Gundam Wing (albeit after further review, far from my favorite Gundam) and Outlaw Star. Thus began my depressing journey into the road of anime. I honestly think I've wasted too much time on anime seeing as I gave up trying to list everything on my profile on myanimelist.com...the list was too long. Here's some of what I've watched: Every Gundam series, 12 Kingdoms, Ah! My Goddess, Ai Yori Aoshi, Air Gear, Amaenaideyo!, Asu No Yoichi, Azumanga Daioh, Baccano! ( ), Bamboo Blade, Basilisk (watching on Blu-Ray is awesome!), Big O, Black Lagoon ( ), Busou Renkin, Canaan, Casshern SINS, Claymore, Code Geass ( ), Dragonaut (Ughhh...), Elemental Gelade, El Cazador, Excel Saga, Fate Stay Night, Fullmetal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic, Girls Bravo, Grenadier, Gunslinger Girl, Gurren Lagann ( ), Heroic Age, Kannagi, Karas, Kaze no Stigma, Koihime Musou, K-ON, Love Hina, Maburaho, every Macross, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Moribito, Murder Princess, Neon Genesis Evangelion ( ), Nyan Koi, Outlaw Star ( ), Rosario + Vampire, Rurouni Kenshin ( ), Saki, Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo, Afro Samurai, every other Samurai title (XD), School Days, School Rumble, Scrapped Princess, Seto no Hayanome, Shuffle!, Soukou no Strain, Soul Eater, Sousei no Aquarion, Speed Grapher (Ughh...), Strawberry Panic, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Tears to Tiara, Tejho Tenge, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Tokyo Majin, Trinity Blood, True Tears, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Vandread, Witchblade, Wolf's Rain, Welcome to the NHK........... ...anyways from what I've watched I'm pretty open to all genres. As for Manga I just recently got into it. Always thought watching > reading but eh. Video Games? Love em. All. NCAA, Forza, Pokemon, Zelda, Super Smash, God of War, Final Fantasy, etc. I'll play anything that's good. Even WoW (a part of my past that is long long gone XD). Oh my one motto: No matter how terrible something is, if I watch at least 4 episodes, I have to finish it, no matter what. Anything else just ask XD

Hi Nick~~ You know you can just -link- us to your anime list? Hahhaha. Well that is quite a list you have there anyway. Now that you're on the forums, you have no excuse not to go to our side events! I believe there is one tonight. You can find that in the suggestions section. I agree with the next to Black Lagoon. I think that is an excellent show. No next to Soul Eater?! Hey I love that show lol. Speed Grapher was very ughily hilarious but I stopped when she got cancer LOL!!! Man I need to finish that show though, it was craziness. NHK is nice too. You seem pretty awesome, I hope I'll get to know you this year!!!! By the way we're having a Japanese Media explorations floor next year if you're interested. nyuclubanime.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=suggestions&action=display&thread=205nyuclubanime.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=suggestions&action=display&thread=158Edit: I don't know why, but I called you Kyle.... LOL Oh and I see that you've watched Stawberry Panic?!?!??! OH the lolzy conversations we will have!

Hey there Nick, I think I saw you on your way out. I'll forgive the Yankees hat (PHILLIES GRRR) for your good tastes in anime. I doubt you'll receive this in time but if you're big on samurais you'll want to come to the Kenshin marathon I'm holding in a few hours. Regardless, I think this shows you definitely found the right place, yeah? I also started out with Toonami back when they showed greats like Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, and G Gundam. It died a couple years back ;_;
Welcome!

Hey guys, I'm Paul. I started coming to meetings at the beginning of this semester, but kept forgetting to join the forums. I'm the Italian kid who hangs out with Raph every meeting - if you still aren't sure who I am, then next meeting you can just yell out "PAUL!!!!!!!" and I'll be like yooooo.
I kind of feel inadequate after seeing everyone's anime lists, haha. Honestly, there's only a few I watched - Death Note, Fruits Basket, Naruto, and One Piece. All I really need to watch now is Bleach and I've rounded out my collection of "animes everybody has seen". That said I've been loving the stuff we've been watching so far, especially the really unique ones, like the OVA where the girl thinks she's found a long-lost king.
So yeah, looking forward to more awesome stuff from the club.

yo Paul, about time you got on here! You're still relatively innocent when it comes to anime I see. We'll have to fix that. Jeff, commence torrenting on Bible Black and Boku no Pico.

Hi Paul. Glad you're finding some of the stuff we show to be interesting. My goal is to show new and interesting anime, and you've shown the most enthusiasm/curiosity towards those shows and I thank you for that. I will try to keep the interesting things coming. yo Paul, about time you got on here! You're still relatively innocent when it comes to anime I see. We'll have to fix that. Jeff, commence torrenting on Bible Black and Boku no Pico. 3 steps ahead of you

Hi Paul,
I do remember meeting you. I was holding some fajitas. You're a pretty cool guy. I'm glad you joined the club and hope that you continue to attend meetings. Naruto and Bleach are awesome, but you're right there's so many things you have to watch! That makes you lucky though, because your freetime will be occupied for awhile.

Hi everyone ^_^ My name is Rachel and I just got accepted into NYU, and I'm planning on starting as a freshman in the fall. I was browsing through the club directory and I was glad to find an anime club in the listing. I just thought I'd post here to try and make a few friends before I start school this fall. ^^;; I'm really nervous about moving into a dorm in a big city and I think having some people to connect with at the beginning might help a lot. :3

Hey Rachel, I'm Chang and let me be the first to welcome you to our club! I'm currently a freshman, sophomore next year, so I just want to tell you that this is a pretty easy club to get involved in. We're always open to new members. Also, I admire how you took the initiative and did not wait til next semester started to start participating. Feel free to browse the rest of the forum to get a feel for what we are like. Also, how about a bit more information about yourself, such as which NYU college you are in, potential majors, favorite anime/videogames, etc. Once again, I welcome you to NYU Club Anime!

Hi Chang. I got accepted into CAS and I'm going to major in Computer Science (I'm considering the double major with computer science and math, but I haven't decided yet). I'm also interested in animation courses but I have no idea what will be available to me in terms of that so I'm going to try and find out. Hm...favorite anime...I've got a lot. xD I'd say my all time fav would have to be Utawarerumono, but coming in for a close second would be Chrono Crusade and the series by Key, like Air and Kanon (I've just started watching Clannad). I'm also probably the biggest Avatar fan any of you will ever meet, but I'm not sure if that counts. xD I also make AMVs, if anyone here likes that stuff. ^^ I've got a youtube channel: www.youtube.com/user/Chaobunny12

Oh, are you into computer animation, or hand-drawn animation? I know Luis is doing a joint program with NYU and Stevens, and Stevens has a massive computer animation program, so you could look into something like that.

What a coincidence! I hovering between either a Computer Science major or a Math major, and I'm also considering the joint major as well. It's a tough choice. We have quite a few people in club that are knowledge about this kind of stuff so you'll always have help!
My roommate is taking a course in animation but it's the hand-drawn kind. Don't know anything else beyond that, sorry.
Utawarerumono, you say? You must talk with Jack aka shikiro0 then. He's a pretty big fan of the series.
You were at Anime Boston last week? So were a group of us but only for Saturday. Although, we weren't at the Avatar Racebending panel nor at the AMV contests. Such a shame. Very nice AMV's by the way and congrats on your win! As for Avatar, you'll find the "racebending" issue was a pretty big topic of contention in the club for a while. Check out the Random board

That's good to hear. I'm interested in computer animation. I know NYU Polytech was recently added to NYU, but I have no idea what courses they offer there. I'm going to look into it and see if they have some computer animation courses there. Thanks. ^^ This is the first year I've won an AMV award at AB, though I've been going since my freshman year of highschool. I'll take a look. I've been pretty active online in regards to protesting the cast of the Avatar movie.

Hi Rachel. Congrats on getting into NYU. I remember looking for an NYU anime club website back when I was accepted, only to find an old dead website. I'm glad you found us. Feel free to poke around the forums, talk to people and discuss whatever you'd like here.
Also, we are currently planning to have a restaurant outing this month. If you would like you can gladly join us and meet several of our members before next semester begins.
Again, welcome to NYU and hope to see you soon. \(^_^)/

Thanks! ^.^
While that sounds fun, I live a good 3-4 hour drive away from New York City, so it wouldn't be practical. I suppose I'll have to wait until the fall to meet everyone.
