Hi, Rachel. Welcome to NYU and the anime club, hope you're looking forward to coming here because its a blast.
A quick note about Utawarerumono. I never actually watched the anime, but I played the VN the anime was based on. I assume the story is the same. The only 2 people I now who played the game and watched the anime have told me that the game is better. If you ever want the game, I can give it to you next year. Favorite characters are Touka and Aruruw(>.<).
Your winning amv is awesome. I personally liked your usage of 5 cm, kanon, and Uta. However, I do think you used too many animes though. Just my two cents worth there.
And a quick note. If you are against the cast of Avatar and post anything about it, you will quickly make both enemies and friends. Our thread is pretty heated. Most peope, like me, just kept our opinions to ourselves.

Sweet, a new member already. Welcome Rachel. Amazing AMV. Congratulations. Oh, you had a panel at a convention. Cool. You're watching Clannad now eh? It's one of my favorite anime. Hmm...when september comes around, be sure to come by. In the mean time, feel free to lurk the forums and join us on irc.

Haha, I've taken a lot of heat for it already. Look at some of the comments on my youtube video. XDD ((It's almost as bad as the shipping wars.)) I've received personal messages from people telling me how I'm ruining everything and how I'm stupid, etc. And people have been banned for it on some Avatar forums because it gets TOO heated...don't worry about me. xD Either way, I've got my own opinion and completely understand that others have their own. While I personally won't see the movie, it's my choice and that's all. I don't plan on debating much here- I'm just new and seeking friends. ^^;;; And thanks for the AMV critique, I'm always up for it. Though I'll admit my reason for putting so many anime into that romance one was for the purposes of fanservice (catering to the audience), and also a shameless maneuver to use Avatar footage and still have the video qualify. XD Say, what's irc? =o

It's a chat thingy where we verbally molest each other. You can either download an irc client to join us(several are listed in the link in my previous post) or use a web-based client like mibbit. Very soon we'll have it set up on the main homepage so more people would feel inclined to join.

Hi Rachel. Like everyone has mentioned, more or less, congratulations on your acceptance to NYU and welcome to Club Anime. You will definitely enjoy our club which, as Chang mentioned, is very laid back. We usually watch different anime series that are either recent or classical ones. In addition to that, we try to have outings like having a restaurant or Karaoke night or even visiting an anime convention together (yep, since you'll be in NYU in the fall, you are more than welcome to join some of us in heading to the New York Anime Festival in October). Overall, as all of us promise, you will enjoy our club.
Ahh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Luis and I am the secretary and webmaster for Club Anime. I'm also the joint Mathematics (NYU degree) and Mechanical Engineering (Stevens degree) guy chzrm3 mentioned earlier. Feel free to look around both the forum and the website to get a feel for what we have done. As always, any questions or comments, feel free to post them. Once again, welcome to both NYU and Club Anime.
P.S. An avatar fan you say. Just out of curiosity, which of the bending elements would you prefer to have?

@ Rachel
WAH! I KNEW SOMEONE'S USERNAME WAS SO DARNED FAMILIAR xD Hey hey hey, I lurk on a certain livejournal group that has to do with the Avatar movie casting... Haha wow that's quite a coincidence :3 *And such a small world haha*
Anyway welcome to the NYU anime club forum and kudos to actually getting into NYU in the first place. xD Admissions is getting tight yanno, so you need to get yourself a pat on the back for that!
... :'D I can pretty much reiterate what everyone has said so far but I've noticed one of your comments was something about Utawarerumono? Unlike some people over here I watched the anime only and I have to say it made my junior year in high school fun. Also I read Touka somewhere up there -- >:U She's boss.
Also, trap twins. ;D You know you guys love em.
:3 Avatar is more than welcome, I think Jack already clued you in on how the forums feel about it but I do have to say, more kudos to you for your panel.

Ooh hello there! Someone recognized my username, I feel special ^.^ And yay for a small world. xD Yeah, I've only watched the anime of Utawarerumono. I love all the characters. If NY Anime Festival is in October, I'll be sure to pack my cosplays when I go to college. ^_^ I've got a couple of Avatar ones and an Eruruu one from Utawarerumono. So does anyone have reccommendations on what type of computer I should get for college? Especially for a CS major. I have no idea so I thought I'd ask. xD

@ Angeli Trap twins suck. They NEED to die. The amount of crap (I admit, it was funny) that was hinted at in the VN is ridiculous.
@ Chaobunny Eruru is AWESOME. Definitely a close third favorite character. However, Zack might come after you with a torch. One of my favorite scenes is below.
"Eruruw: Aruruw, ma chi na sai!!!!!! Aruruw: Ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Note: The VN features decent gameplay. Its a turn-based strategy, and feels like a toned-down version of fire emblem. It's really good, I recommend you try it out.
As for the computer, you don't really need much if all you just need it for class to take notes and whatnot. Basically, its really up to what you want. *hint hint, milk it for all its worth out of your parents. If you give me your price range and what you want to use it for, I could make up a list for you.

Hi Rachel! My name is Sara, a CAS Physics Major, will be a sophomore next year. CONGRATS ON GETTING IN TO NYU! It's no easy feat. If you're going to NYAF, I would definitely love to take a photo with you. I'll probably be going as Yuna from FFX. I have done Sailor Mars, and Tomoe from Rurouni Kenshin. Also, all the people on here SAY you can get away with anything but I am going to let you know, get a Mac and they will badger you about it. Well, not badger, just lol until the get the windows blue screen of death. Jack still owes me a cat because of such. Jack, I am waiting for it. Can't wait to meet you in the fall! (btw, AMV is awesome, I envy your skillz)

(btw, AMV is awesome, I envy your skillz) I would like to note that your mac is not hollow yet. When you're done cleaning out the trash that Mac dares to call a computer out from the case, I'll get you a cat. As one of the techies of anime club, let me tell you that for your purposes, unless you are a professional artist or composer or something along those lines, you are better off with a PC. Also, if you get a PC, there's people to help troubleshoot your problems for you. And yes, Mac's have issues too. The link below provides reasons why Mac's suck, as well as gives you a link to a Mac help site, which proves that Mac's do have problems too. www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cantAlso, I would like to note that the only time I have ever gotten a blue screen was when Nora touched my computer. As long as she does not touch your computer, everything will be fine. ^_^

There's three main operating systems for three types of people:
1) Average user/gamer/ power user/professional user - Windows 2) Programmer/ techie - Linux 3) Artsy/ musical/ computer noob - OSX
As for hardware, PCs are PCs. Some places (DELL) will charge you premium price for premium computers. Apple, however, charges you premium price for crap hardware.
I would rather use my BlackBerry as a computer than a Mac.
That is all I have to say on the matter.

As an artsy person and a computer noob, I second the motion that if you are into that sort of thing - the Mac is the way to go.
My PC, as reliable as it is for games and general use, always seemed to die whenever I tried to run Painter, iTunes, and Photoshop at the same time. 8'D H-Hooray for my Mac being able to take it like a man when I want to switch back and forth.
8U LOLOLOLOL Are you on deviantArt? *AT RACHEL*

I'm probably going to end up getting a Dell computer. My dad knows people who work for Dell so we can get a nice discount. I'll just have to find something with a nice graphics card. I've never worked with a Mac, so I don't really trust them. xD Plus my video editing software is for a PC, and I'm not about to stop using Sony Vegas after three years. ^^;; @lady_earlgray- yup: waterbenderbunny.deviantart.com/And I feel like I should say this because I've been feeling bad- my going to NYU isn't 100% set in stone, more like... 99%. If by some miracle Brown takes me off their waitlist by the end of May I might choose to go there because they have more art/animation courses in addition to CS. Granted, that's not likely to happen, but in the offchance it does, I still want to be friends with you guys. :3 Ok everyone don't kill me now. *hides*

Don't buy a Dell if you can help it. As Zack said, they are terribly overpriced. You can always get a computer with higher specs for the same price. If you give us your price range, I can recommend a computer for you. And I can guarantee you that its better than the dell you can buy for the same price.
And choosing Brown over us, the friends you've made on these forums? Shame shame. Its about people, not schools. I got into other schools like Cornell and McGill (the supposed #1 university in Canada). Let me tell you right now, I'm very glad I came here.
