The one thing I really hate about IS is that all the girls fall head over heels for him. Even the german girl that finally seems like someone that won't be taken in by his masculine pheromones, falls victim to the harem disorder in little more than an episode. It's taking potentially interesting characters, and turning them all into a mushy girl with no character. Yeah, that's so annoying. I had a bad feeling they were gonna do that when Celicia, after being completely obnoxious and egotistical initially, does a complete 180 and becomes this nice, sweet, shy girl in episode 2 or 3. It was like huh?!?
There's a scene at one point in the anime where they're all talking to his sister, she says something and they all have the same reaction, with the same facial expression. (it's pretty exaggerated, which makes it stand out). I think that about sums up the show - the girls all start out interestingly, but falling for the main character bleaches their personalities and makes them all clones.
It's the fatal flaw of most harem animes - I don't know why they all insist on being so generic. And it's not like the writers are incapable of taking it somewhere else, cause they at least had some interesting things going on with Charles having a father that never loved her, or that German chick being bred for war. They'd just rather make all the girls really, really, really predictable.

I couldn't resist clicking on those spoiler tags. My interest in IS has now waned.
Also, it just occurred to me that I said "denigrate" when I meant to say "devolve." My bad, everyone, sorry for the vocabulary fail.

I think the only interest I have remaining were some spoilers on /m/, which revealed that Ichika and Charlotte train for about a month to develop a new combo attack, and the final form of it is reminiscent of Super Robot Wars' Kyosuke's and Excellen's Rampage Ghost. That seems pretty cool, but not sure if it's worth watching all the menial content to get to that.

do not insult my harem anime! the thing with harems, you can't have a serious mindset; it's mindless fun. I enjoy them for what they are. it's not going to revolutionize anything but even other shows in other genres seldom do. bottom line: it's just a tv show. <3 charlotte

I dunno, I think I've become way too genre savvy to enjoy some stuff. IS had some enjoyable moments, but I found it boring till it introduced Charlotte.

But if shuffle! is actually good, I'll keep that in mind. : D Good...is debatable. It's pretty stale at first, the attempts at a serious backstory seem pretty silly and half-assed, but about halfway through things start to change and then an episode comes out of nowhere that turns the whole 'happy funny ecchi harem!' concept on its head for the rest of the show (until the last end credits which [if you decide to watch the show] I recommend you watch all the way through). I definitely enjoyed it more than shit like Rosario+Vampire though >_<

seeing as how i won't be at club today because i got an experiment at the same time instead which will lead to a full sleep crash since i'll have been up for 30 hours by then...yeah, i'm gonna be anime-less for the week
with regards to IS, harem anime almost always end up having the same middle portion, so it's really only the character introductions and the ending path that might make the anime unique. The introductions failed to do that with maybe the exception of Charlotte. To me after episode 10, IS is looking to be a generic path or full harem ending so one extreme or the other. Should be interesting to see the choice that decides the path.
