Hello anime-clubbers! You may not remember me, but I'm a former anime club prez/regular that still hasn't kicked the habit.
Anyway, this and that happened, and I have some info that you guys might find interesting.
I recently was recruited for some translation work at FoOlRulez scanlations; I am working on a hilarious and obscure manga called "Tonnura-san". If I had to describe it in a phrase, I'd have to say: "imagine a manga about Chiyo's dad."
Woxxy, the leader of the group, is also a programmer, and has built the manga viewer that many other scanlation groups (like RedHawk) use for their own works as well. If any of you have ever had qualms about using mangafox (either regarding their downsizing of image resolution or watermarking), then you will want to check out these readers, which are usually distributed at the scanlators' websites. The web application pre-loads the chapter pages for very smooth reading experience.
