Otaku no Video is a two-part OVA of about 50 minutes per episode. It's a mix between anime and real-life documentaries which are both hilarious. Wikipedia can describe it better than I ever can so here's the wiki page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otaku_no_videoWiki says Genshiken is related, and I can see why. Apparently, the people who created Otakon were inspired by this movie, which is why they show it every year. I've watched it the past two times I've been there and I still find it entertaining. My friends say watching it makes them proud to be otakus

Ok, I have been searching for someone who also wants to watch Otaku No Video. I strongly favor the idea of actually watching this during our club meeting. If not, then at least someone provide a link to watch this online. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to watch this.
Let's make this happen!

Holy crap, I've been searching for a download the past hour and I've come up with nothing. No healthy torrents, no ddl's, no irc channels that still have it. I hope some video streaming site has it

Thanks. I've actually been interested in showing it. I also saw it at otakon and thought it was cool. But I had no luck finding it. Greatly appreciate it if you can give it to me at the meeting chris.

after more digging around i was able to find both ovas (both in spanish subs though...figures...) and the complete english subs file (i think, seems like it). so going to combine both videos when they are done downloading then overlaying the english subs into the top of the screen which is better than nothing. just have to work out the timing but that's an easy job for me
we could just market it as learning spanish, and english translations at the same time.

It's saddening how such a classic has become so hard to find

Tis is true. Why has one of the few videos/anime/series/ova/movies/"something that all otakus, anime lovers, moe-fans, etc should watch" so hard to find??? Why?? If I don't see this, then my life is not complete. I have watched Densha Otoko (CORRECTION: I have read the manga, watched the movie, AND seen the TV series), read and watched "Welcome to the NHK," and even endured Daicon 3 and 4. Is finding "Otaku No Video" become the ultimate challenge for otaku, anime lovers, and moe-fans?

for some reason you can actually rely on the spanish subbers to have active links for most vintage items, for what reason i have no idea but they always seem to have what i can't find in english
in the same spanish forum that i found the Otaku no Video files they had a thread on Voltron.

ok, here's where it stands
the srt file that i got from another site was apparently meant for a single combine file that was released somewhere else so the subs are completely mistimed and potentially wrong (they sound like they were foreign subs put through babelfish)
downloading a torrent (really slow torrent) of an english subbed version, hopefully it'll be done before club starts or i'll bring it in next week
