Hey there everyone! I was wondering if anyone was interested in watching an (somewhat) old school anime called Blue Seed (not to be confused with Blue Gender which I thought was awful). I own the whole series, plus the OVA (crazy fangirl that I am). Does anyone wanna take a peek at it?
But WHAT in the WORLD is this show about? Well, because I suck at summaries and not giving away spoilers, I'm going to let Wikipedia do its job:
"The story is based on the Izumo cycle of Japanese mythology and the tale of the god Susanoo and the eight-headed monster Yamata no Orochi. The main character, Momiji Fujimiya, is a descendant of the mythical Princess Kushinada (奇稲田姫 Kushinada-hime?). When Japan is menaced by Aragami (荒神 Aragami?, lit. "angry gods") spawned by Yamato-no-Orochi, Momiji is intended to be a human sacrifice to appease the Aragami. She instead, however, becomes a member of the Terrestrial Administration Center (TAC), a secret agency charged with fighting them."
BUT WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? Wellll....for one, there's some real Japanese mythology behind this story, plus some military and fighting action, giant monsters, romance (not so much that's all mushy and takes up all the show but even that THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A RELATIONSHIP AND ITS NOT AMBIGUOUS!), slight pervy-ness (but only a little), hardcore moral issue that has SUBTLE ENVIROMENTALISM (...maybe not super subtle), and (say it with me people) A PLOT!
I LOVE this series. I mean this is one I consider to be a lost classic of anime. Please, give it a shot, watch one episode and then if you hate, it can lay dormant in my dorm room but give this series a chance!
