That was one of my shows back then, before I knew anime. Good times...good times.

good times in deed. The show kept it real. Exposed me to the ups and downs of life, even though I was still an elementary/junior high school rookie.

From the creators of the crazy Dub Piece parody (a time before the era of the Abridged), Doug the Dub. Obscene, vulgar, hilarious good fun.
Looking back, Doug was awesome through and through. It was the coming of age story of a preteen with an overactive imagination, making my own imagination issues even worse. The lessons I got from Doug included creativity, introspection, and thinking things through. Perhaps you could say it was probably our first "slice of life" series that later primed us for things like Azumanga Daioh (crossover material?). In retrospect you even say the Disney Doug had its own merits to a degree. It taught me that changes happen, and not everything is going to stay the same forever.

what the fuck, the store owner has it in a DRAWER before doug gets there then suddenly puts it on this amazing shelf, why isn't it there in the first place?
Doug is the only show more inconsistent than Static Shock, I've never been able to make it through 3 mins of an episode without pointing out something horribly wrong.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY - Yeah I loved Doug, up until Disney decided to make "Doug Middle School Adventures" or something or other. I had Doug in the same class as childhood favorites like Hey Arnold and such... But man was there something about Ren and Stimpy that was both a trainwreck I couldn't stare away from, and a source of untold amusement that I understood maybe too easily at a young age. Rocko's Modern Life , too. PFF But man did I love that show xDx Rocko's I mean

Oh yeah, Hey Arnold. That was also a good slice of life. Crazy characters, but with real-lifelike experiences. For most all you folks, Helga was your first tsundere. Search your heart, you know it to be true.
