Lemons
I tried to make it an acronym representing a bunch of events, but for some reason, the only word that I could think of that starts with L was lemons.
Anyway there's a ton of events going on in April. Our own events, anime related events in the area, and opportunities to raise money for Japan relief.
SAVE JAPAN!!
Asian American Theatre Alliance (AATA) and Japan International (JI) are planning an Open Mic Fundraiser Performance with donations going to the Japanese Red Cross Society. They are planning on having it on Saturday, April 9th from 4-7 in Washington Square Park. They are accepting entries to their Open Mic. Singing, Dancing, Acting, or any other form of performance is wanted! If you want to perform or get in touch with the organizers let me know.
There will be bake sales all throughout the month of April to raise money for Japan as part of the Japan Disaster Relief(JDR) campaign. Bake sales will be all around campus, primarily at the Kimmel lobby I presume. Here's the facebook page.
Anime around and about
BAM Distant Worlds music from Final Fantasy. Location: BAM Howard Gilman Opera House. Friday and Saturday this week. Witness an orchestral performance of select songs from Final Fantasy and possibly meet the man that makes it all, Nobuo Uematsu. I would have gone, but I can't afford to spend right now. Cheapest is $65 for cruddy balcony seats. $95 for the best seats. Use coupon code: 13999 to get $10 off.
Anime Boston has been planned for awhile so I don't think I need to tell you about that. But as a reminder, if you want to attend the formal at AB, you can buy tickets early for $3 each. Since it's a formal, there is a dress code, so pack your fancy shoes. Information about the formal can be found here. They actually have 2 dress code pages. Talk about strict.
Castle Point anime convention at Stevens University in Hoboken New Jersey next Sunday(April 10th). A few of us are thinking of going. Just a local con that won't cost much. $12 for an individual ticket, get a group of 5 and you can get 5 tickets for $50($10 each). I'm still not entirely sure if I'm going. But if you are interested in going and getting the group deal, post here.
Official Club Anime events
Cos-Cafe: Cosplay/Maid cafe. I will try to get out an email to everyone that signed up as volunteers this weekend.
I'm still waiting on news about rooms, dates, and contingency funding.
Murafest Matsuri: Joint with EALS and JI. Main attraction: JI's concert. Which I should be working on this weekend with Hannah as well. So busy~
Sorry I can't give more details on our own things yet. Just too many unknowns, which we're working on.
