I'm not too upset about the second season. I think endless 8 was a bad move on KyoAni's part but the rest of the season was quite good. I'm disappointed that they didn't get to the Disappearance arc but if KyoAni really is going to do a rumored Haruhi movie, maybe they'll get around to it.
Yeah, so go ahead and share your thoughts.

I agree with you on some parts Prez. The second season wasn't too bad. I enjoyed all the episodes prior to Endless Eight. However, when it came to Endless Eight, I would applaud them on certain parts. I kinda found it a smart move for the fact that it made you think for a moment whether you were watching last weeks episode (which you kinda were). In addition to this, each new episode presented a new angle for each character (and I am a man of my angles... I love new camera shots). However, I will agree with you in the idea that having eight "repeated" episodes is kinda too much. I would have preferred if they had an "Endless Four." Perhaps since they were looking for a word that rhymes with endless, they chose eight, thus eight "Endless Eight."
I hope that they DO the rumored Haruhi movie. I will have to pull a Neon Genesis move and practically cut classes if it ever comes to the states (which I doubt will be any time soon). For the time being, watching season 1 and 2 along with reading the manga will suffice.
What do others say about this?

btw, in case someone's not aware of what this silly rumored movie talk is about, it's from here: It's an interview with the director of Haruhi season 2 in which he says: Interviewer: “There are a lot of episodes from the novels which have not been animated. We’d love to hear which of those you would like to make into a movie.” Ishihara (AKA the director that trolled us all): “Endless Eight… :-) Can’t we do that again, adding some new extras, try some film tricks out? Or is it too much? :-)” The talk of a movie is purely hypothetical and is most likely not going to happen. Source

Hmm, well there is a lot of chapters left in the novel/manga. If they do manage to do a movie, I would feel that they would need to make the 4 - 5 episodes flow smoothly. I guess Endless Eight was the only one that truly feels as if it would flow smoothly if it were made into a movie. Easy transition from episode to episode. If this were to happen and Endless Eight is INDEED what they chose for the film, I think KyoAni will lose fans by the hundreds or even thousands. Bad move KyoAni, bad move!

yea, I dunno what the hell they were thinking with the endless 8 eps... Their unconventional method of distributing their 1st season eps was innovative...i'll give them that, but it doesn't mean they can just randomly pull crap outta the air, put it together and call it innovative.
sorry kyoani...
Also, what i heard was that this "season 2" is actually just additional eps onto season 1...so does that really make it a season 2?

I actually thought the endless 8 will never end until the actual september come up... at least it's better than that...
endless 8 will be a godlike monument in KyoAni's history... and I will worship it...

Chronologically speaking, all the episodes took place within season 1. But it is considered a second season as far as the series goes.

I just finished it.. and...... I'm not really sure. I would probably be in the "disappointed" category... especially since I felt like the story barely progressed throughout the entire season. I hated the end of endless eight, call me a girl but I wanted to see some more fleshing out of the kyon/haruhi thing they had going marvelously at the end of season 1. Season 1 did everything quirky and right, season 2 did everything quirky and wrong, imo.
Things felt a little stretched out, a little too stereotypically drawn out, you know? I didn't need three episodes on how the movie was created (although the fight was a little bit cool)... it felt like the material just wasn't as rich as the first.
Now, I haven't read any of the manga, so maybe there's a lot more to the tale, but it was unsatisfying for me, anyway.

Well, it's official. There is going to be a Haruhi movie, and just as predicted it will feature the disappearance arc. That is, unless this is just kyoani trolling again. Looks legit though. Release date is spring 2010.

Nice. I heard the Disappearance arc was very popular. I haven't read the novels outside of the first one, so now I can see what all the fuss is about.
