Well now that NYAF is done and over with, wouldn't hurt to get a jump on ANIME BOSTON 2011 from APRIL 22-24!!! I will be in charge of planning (due to the whole near disaster of Anime Boston 2010 ;D). For now just trying to gauge general interest. I know its early but these trips require advanced planning. And we can get discounts if we order before the turn of the calendar (December 31st). I will definitely be going, even if I have a midterm that Friday (I'll just take a bus or plane or train that night). I will also be cosplaying for the first time we'll see how that goes. Aside from tickets, what are the expected costs for travel, motel, etc. Also, how big is AB compared to NYAF?
Hmm...if I get my ticket before October 31st, it's cheaper. Will consider it. I want to go, but can't make any promises yet.
EDIT:OMFG, I was looking at other conventions coming next year, and I just realized I missed Stereopony at AnimeNext last year. TT_TT /derail

Also, how big is AB compared to NYAF? Much bigger. I mean, not like the combined NYCC/NYAF, but definitely much bigger than the NYAF section by a lot. And there are more panel rooms and stuff, and the masquerade and AMV contest are bigger as well. Also, the calendar tells me that AB weekend is Easter weekend again this year. It doesn't really matter to me, but in case other people are concerned about it I figured I might as well put it out there. Also, does NYU typically have classes on Good Friday? If not, that would be epic--it means that if I do go, then I can leave on Thursday night. I don't currently have classes on Friday but that might change next semester.

AB as a convention has fewer people attend it, but it's a good-sized con with the power to haul in decent guests. For example last year they had Nobuo Uematsu.
I'm definitely in on this.

knowing my luck with planning ahead for these types of events, chances are something is going to block my attempts to go to Boston this year (last year there was a huge thunderstorm when i was supposed to go that made everything really craptastic). I've faced facts, me and boston don't mix well.
So i'll be the first person to say that I won't be going to Anime Boston 2011, though I would admit it would be awesome I probably will have some obligation during Easter weekend.

I may go. Not going to say for sure yet as I don't know anything about classes/work/money/etc.
I would certainly like to go after NYCC/NYAF. Will see later.

Also, what's the prices for tickets? I probably wont be able to decide until a month or so before, but if it'll save me like $30 I may get tickets ASAP.

If you get it by the end of October, it's $40. Before the end of the year, it's $45. And $50 for next year. There is a group price, but I don't think we can manage that many people going up to Boston.

I'll probably end up paying the extra $10
How many do we need for group tickets?

I doubt people are gonna be able to decide by December. But we should be able to scrounge up 10 people by April.

I want to go, but travel/room fees, etc, yeah. Depends on how much work I'm getting that weekend, and how bad I'm feeling my finals are gonna be. And how my parents react. Will think about it.

All I can say is that you'd be lucky to pay that little. Last year I paid around $70 total for hotel, but that's because I stayed in a hotel room with seven other people, which you're not technically supposed to do. Then if you add travel costs and it's somehow very cheap, I'd say you'd be around $100 at least.
