Well Final Fantasy XIII is set to come out in Japan at the end of 2009 and has a North American due date of 2010. Sadly I don't have PS3 myself. So my question to you is this: Who here has a PS3 and is planning to get FFXIII and doesn't mind me going over to your house/dorm to play? jk. More seriously, what do you think of the game? I've heard some people saying the Final Fantasy franchise is going down the drain but I personally think XIII looks amazing and has potential that can measure up to the classics. Not to mention, the main character is a badass female, the likes of which hasn't been seen since FFVI(X-2 doesn't count), which many consider to be the epitome of Final Fantasy games.

Me and my brother debated that the other day; is there really a main character in FFVI? And if there is, is it Celes or Terra? Great game regardless, when I get my internet back I'm gonna pirate the new DS version.
I have no PS3, but I'm hoping someone I know gets it so I can see it. Looks interesting but I haven't played an FF game since Tactics/7.

I have a PS3 and I'm not sure whether I'm gonna import it or not (btw, I'm not getting my hopes up for an '09 release), but I'm gonna definitely getting the NA version.
People complain. People LIKE to complain. People will always complain about the guys on top. Final Fantasy has always been one of the leaders of the JRPG genre. FFXI was an amazing MMORPG, FFXII is a great game with a grand scale. But both were different and people began spouting hate to Square.
Personally, I think FFVIII was the greatest FF of the series. People were just put off by the Junction system which required you to (gasp) think.
If I do get the Jap version of FFXIII I'll try bring it in one day so you can all try it out before club.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows by now the FF theorem:
The first FF you played is likely the one you liked the best.
I played FFVIII first, and it's also my favorite (gratz senor presidente), I loved the storyline, loved the characters, loved the battle system (reflect is SO important), loved it all.
That being said, you have to admit FFXII was pretty disappointing... I was grinding like no tomorrow, and as a result just mist quickeninged the entire game. when you can super combo for unlimited digits of damage by pressing the correct buttons at the correct time... basically I never lost a single battle in that game up until near the end.
That being said, FFXIII's battle system looks really cool. But I don't have a PS3. But they're 300 bucks now...... and I have a flat screen in my room, so.... maybe I'll get it. Maybe.
Also I liked FFX, don't hate me. And I played 140 hours worth of blitzball...

IMO
FFVIII > FFX > FFT > FFVII > FFVI > FFIII > FFXII > FFIX
Haven't played most of the 2D ones, and not counting XI (which pwnd).
Though my hopes are resting more on FFvsXIII. Kingdom Hearts + darkness = awesome!

New gameplay footage for FFXIII in case anyone's interested.
And as for my favorite FF? I'd probably be X > VII > VIII > XII > III I'm not counting Tactics, CC, or X-2.

Hmmm, although I am tempted to say FF8 as my top list (and it happened to be my first FF game), my order would look something like this:
FFVII > FFVIII > FFII (The Emperor OWNSSS ALL) > FFVI > FFX > FFIX
I'm still playing FFIII on my DS when I go to and from campus. Thus, I can't still judge thee. As for these trailers, FFXIII looks promising. I can kinda sense a nostalgic feeling with the battle engine.

MGS, SRSLY. I love FFII. The Emperor is GOD MODE. Played that on my big grey..
FFVIII > FFX > FFVI > FFVII > FFIX > FFXII > FFX-2
X-2 lolololol
But yeah, FFXIII looks like it's finally going to deliver something worth buying... I know Fran was what we all bought FFXII for, but really, one bunny girl for a whole game? Not again.

My first one was FFIV but my favorite is probably FFT or FF7.
FFT >= FFVII > FFVI > FFIV > FFIX > FFV > FFX-2 out of the ones I've played.

PFFFF @ the Fran comment ;3
I have to say I'm really excited for FFXIII especially because Lightning is so badass - and it's the first time I was really excited for a game since... X? >8U Poo on X-2 that was just... No, it turned me off from FF games for a bit haha
BTW - who else is in love with the battle theme? xDx <3
And since everyone is doing their erm list: FFVII > FFX > FFIX > FFVIII > FFX-2 <-- Sadly that's all I played besides CC, but I don't think CC really counts

BTW - who else is in love with the battle theme? xDx <3 Yeah, I find the battle theme quite catchy. Though I find all FF battle themes to be catchy so it's no surprise there.

PHOENIX DOWN
It's true, they've all got a catchy beat that you just can't forget. Although I have to say X's wasn't my favorite - at all.
