Edit: I was gonna make a pokemon b/w thread anyway, then I saw this thread, which I made like a year ago lolol. Also shame on me, doubting the greatness of pokemon like some common noob. Hey,
I just found out today that there's a new version of pokemon coming out, black and white (yeah, I'm really slow haha), and they just released pics of the new starters.

So whack. None of those look cool at all. I'm relieved that for once the grass type isn't a four-legged thing that inevitably turns fat as hell, cause that was getting old, but why is the fire type a four legged pig that will inevitably become even fatter?!? And the water type pisses me off too. Didn't they just do the "super cute water type" thing with piplup? So they did it again?
Man, it makes me miss bulbasaur/charmander/squirtle. All three of those dudes were badass.
Anyway, I'll probably go with the grass one just cause it's the least fruity looking, but I just thought I'd share the news cause new pokemans always get me excited.
BTW, allen hooked me up with a jiriachi today at graduation and it's soooo overpowered, it's only level 17 and already has better stats than my level 25 pokemon. Muahaha.

Yeah so I'm playing it now, it feels so good playing a new generation of pokemon for the first time. I knew next to nothing about the game outside of who the starter pokemon were, and I'd seen a bunch of pics of the female protagonist/female gym leaders on 4chan lolololol. (Incidentally, that's why I picked white over black. And if that makes me less of a man, I'm okay with that.)
I ended up going with smugleaf, of course. So far I'm liking him a lot, but he's still not as awesome as Leafeon. : ( I've actually been debating trading myself my Leafeon from platinum, but I don't want to because I already have a really solid grass pokemon, so that's kind of dumb, and I don't like the idea of Leafeon not belonging to my plat trainer anymore. So, I dunno. Also, can you even trade in old pokemon? I know in black/white there's ~only~ new pokemon, so I'm not sure if they bothered to even do animations and stuff for all the hundreds of older pokemens.
Speaking of, I really like the fact that all the pokemon are new. I was getting really sick of seeing some of the same stupid pokemon again and again and again. Not gonna like though, I raged hard when I go into a cave and what's there waiting for me? Wubat. I was like "$#@% THIS, NO!!!!!!!" It's kind of annoying just how similar he is to zubat, too. Psychic, flying ~and~ dark type attacks. The only real difference is zubat was poison/flying whereas wubat's psychic/flying, but a Golbat with bite, confusion, wing attack and poison fang has four types of attacks, whereas Wubat only gets three. So that's awesome, we got a less flexible zubat. And it's called wubat. Fuuuuuuuuu
The other thing I thought was weird was how quickly the game invalidated your rival. It's like "well since you're grass-type, it'll be hard to beat his fire pig! Except, have this weird water monkey. There, now you can destroy him effortlessly!" I've never really enjoyed being given pokemon, I like to go out and earn them myself, and especially being given a pokemon that immediately negates any threat your rival could pose is kinda lame. It's not even like it was an egg, also I hate that stupid monkey and I can't wait to replace him. : P
Those are the only two pokemon I don't like so far, though. All the others range from predictable-but-nice to pretty cool. Sure, seeing the standard bird or bug pokemon doesn't surprise me, but you gotta have those, or else how do you level a thunder pokemon?
So the main thing I'm trying to figure out is what my team's gonna be. Of the pokemon I have, I'm obviously keeping around my starter, and then there's this one other guy that I really like. He's a fighting type, and he's holding a log over one shoulder that he throws into the air every now and then. He just seemed cool, and I've never really had a fighting type (closest I had was lucario, but that pokemon didn't know what it was, with dark moves, steel moves, even dragon moves it was like dude wtf?!?!?)
I'm also thinking about doing something weird this time around, and ~not~ rolling with the standard types. You know, a water, a fire, and an electric. That'd probably gimp me a lot, but I do that in every single playthrough, so it might be cool to go a different route and get some really weird types that I always ignore because they come into play so late, like ice or ghost.
