Well, I just find it odd that a couple of big name anime were recently remade this year. Fullmetal Alchemist and Dragonball Z have both been remade into new series, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Dragonball Kai respectively. In both cases the idea was to trim the fat and better reflect their manga counterparts.
In the case of FMA, the original anime series eventually diverted from the manga's storyline and sort of did it's own thing. Brotherhood is a faithful adaption of the manga's plot down to the small details (holy crap Rose is white....again). This means that fans of the original series will probably still want to watch, as the overlap is done quickly in Brotherhood, focusing much more on the 'new' material.
In the case of Dragonball Kai, the plot is pretty much the same as in DBZ. The only difference is that it's much more fact paced without the fillers in between each arc. The animation is pretty much the same and it ends up being more of a reairing with a few new scenes and all the crap cut out. No real reason for those who have already seen DBZ to watch it again, but the option is there and it wont be as drawn out an tedious as the first time (I hated how the US release of DBZ was handled...Latin America finished Dragonball GT before we got to the Majin Buu arc. Srsly....).
Anyways, just wanted to see what everyone thought of these remakes. I for one would like to see remakes of anime that deviated from the manga for whatever reason (Gash Bell and Claymore come to mind) but as for removing filler....well there shouldn't have been filler in my anime in the first place....
I think that's like someone shooting your dog and buying you a new one....
