I need to marry a guy who makes video games, who makes lots of money, so I can stay home all day and play FF games, or even a sugar daddy would work out. I must be included in the Will, if they die, so I never have to worry about going to work. I need a PS3 and a gaming computer. I'll do anything you ask me to do, except kill myself. I wish I could afford a ps 3, so I could play these cool games. My ps 2 has to do for now.

I will not be playing as I do not own a PS3. I used to have an xbox 360 but it kept breaking and once the warranty ran out, well I was out an xbox. I can't believe I spent so much money to buy it new and it broke. Within a year it broke 3 times). From not reading disk, to ring of death. They should have made FF 13 for pc as well, as not everyone owns a PS3, or and Xbox 360. I have a PS 2, so I can only play those games. I am female btw. I do like FF XI, however my pc is not really made for games and with steam it was just not working. I kept getting error messages. I can play FF X and FF XII. You could also play the PS1 final fantasys (1&2, 5-9, and Tactics) OR the PS2 version of FFXI. OR buy a PS3 =/ JRPGs don't do well on PC. That's why there's almost none of them in the West. I have a ps 2 and I play FF X, FFX-2 and FF XII...Those are the only FF games I like, though I do enjoy FF XI but my computer does not like Steam, so I can't play it. I would buy a ps 3 if I could afford it. I wonder if I could steal a ps 3 from wal-mart. LOL. Without the beeper going off before I walk out the door. Wait! how that ps3 get in my purse.

FFXIII completed.
Overall I was very, VERY, impressed. Best final fantasy game to come out in a while.
Now that I've reached endgame, I get to spend hours grinding! W00t!

I do not own FF XIII, but can you fish and make crafts? You talked about grinding. Or does grinding mean something else? The thing I loved about FF XI, is that I could fish and cook, and fight mobs and party online with people. Is this game online, or offline? I do not have ps 3 right now, or xbox so I can't play anyway. I was just wondering about it. I think it would be really cool if FF XI made that game off line but I can see why they don't as they need money for the online game. I wish I could play FF XI off line sometimes though.

This is what I read about FF XII: "Yet despite that, FFXIII received 39 out of 40 points in the review, with one editor giving the game a 9 and the rest awarding ten out of ten points. Why? "Given the quality all around, it's a bit of a shame that the story is a straight path until the midgame," editor Yamamoto Penki (the guy who gave it 9/10) wrote. "I'm also concerned about the lack of [gameplay] gimmicks before the midpoint." (Yamamoto's issue with the lack of story freedom was echoed by another reviewer, too.) "
To me I enjoy fighting games, so even if the game is a straight path to mid game I would still play it, if I could. I also enjoy role playing games, so that is fun to. I just want to fight monsters. Sometimes I would get so lost playing FF XII. It's nice to know FF XIII is not one big maze. I read people can do quest, so the game last longer. I do not know, as I have not played the game yet. I think the graphics look outstanding from what I have seen in game reviews. I think I might like it but I do not have a ps3 or xbox, so I can't play to find out. I am stuck watching the game on you tube. LOL.

i give it 6.5/10. the pacing was just awful. even when it "picks up" the damage has been done. even for final fantasy the plot was ridiculous beyond belief...not to mention totally anti climatic...and super duper linear. the characters were some of the worst in my opinion. lightning is nothing but a knock off of cloud, but female. barret > sazh. hope is hope-less. snow is an idiot...and even near end game his previous outbursts have done irreversible damage. and his relationship with Serah is just fucked up beyond imagination. vanille and fang get a pass cuz of the whole "yuri thing" that is floating around out there...looking back at 12, i'd take vaan over snow anyday...not to mention balthier and fran...and ashe who is much better looking than lightning...and even back at 10...tidus looks mature (granted he does truly mature at end game) compared to snow...
the battle system like everyone says is a blast. that is for a few hours. better than 12 which frustrated the shit outta me. but bottom line, it was way too simple...control one character, press one button, do some paradigm shifts...watch pretty animations. i guess the same can be said of all final fantasies in the sense that you press just one button...but i just dont get the sense of suspense...because its way too easy. imho, 10's battle system of turn based switching characters was extremely cool and involved lots of management. i could go on but when the final boss invokes yawns from me...its too easy.
what really killed it for me though was eliminating all the elements that made final fantasy, or just about any other RPG game, an RPG. there was no "R" (role). this game is an ACTION ADVENTURE game...even the director or whoever said so...this is not a role playing game. scoff at me all you want but this game was more akin to games like God of War...go from point A to B and kill shit and watch movies and do some exploration. in other words, uber linear. on a side note, gow 3 pwns. compared to other games, exploration was at an all time low...no NPC's or towns = wtf? auto healing? while i agree 10 was linear...it still had RPG elements.
overall, the game was an impressive GRAPHICAL achievement...really pushed the ps3 to the fullest...but the same can be said of gow3. or mass effect 2. well maybe not to the degree of ff13, but im not too too picky. as a GAME, title aside, it failed in a lot of ways...however, in the end, i did gain some sort of satisfaction, but believe me, the box will commence to collecting dust, as i can not bear another play through. and considering that ff10 was released in 2001...and the only one in between was 11 and 12...yea 13 was probably the best one released in a while lol. by the way i liked 10 more than 13, for what its worth. 13 belongs in the middle tier of final fantasy games...for me at least...4, 6-9, are top tier (yes 4 and 6 are "primitive" but vastly rich in story, etc.). the new gen ones (10-13) are middle tier. the rest get thrown below.

Judge, while you completely entitled to your opinion, I disagree almost entirely.
A couple of points:
-I don't see how towns make or break a game. It's more of an excuse to nitpick than an actual issue with the game (or any JRPG)
-15 hours of linearity in a 100+ hour game is nothing wrong. Having the game be any other way would have required a change in the story. I doubt fugitives of a planet would have a chance to go around talking to NPCs and playing card games. The pacing was different, but worked perfectly with the plot IMO.
-I have said this nearly a hundred times already. If you want to use auto-battle, don't complain about it being too simple. Gambits in FFXII were the same. It should not surprise anyone that a game that plays itself is not going to be very fun. I used auto-battle 2-3 times in the main runthrough for a couple of bosses that were kicking my ass. It's awesome for grinding though when all you want IS to press a single button.
If you actually go through selecting commands and anticipating what the AI is going to do, the battle system ends up being a very rewarding experience.
-The characters were real, which is rare in a Final Fantasy game. No "happy-peppy cheerleader girls. No mopey emo guys who are emo because they have nothing better to do (well except for Hope for the first half, but screw him). They all go through realistic character developments and grow together. I would probably pick this FF cast as a whole as my favorite or tied (with VI's).
-Rinoa > Lightning > every other FF chick ever.
Will compare to the rest of the series when I finish 9-12...which I'll get to eventually ( >_>)
But until then: 9/10

XD -- I'm mainly pissed off at the fact that there was only one button to fight (I was expecting badass combos like Tekken or something) but other than that I have nothing to complain about, lovely game~<3 (Though me/my bro/his gf got distracted after chapter 2)

few things:
i never said towns make or break. i said the elements typical of an RPG, which FF13 is not. it tries to put on the illusion of an RPG, but fails. and it doesn't help when there are numerous ff nerds out there feeding this illusion. i have grown tired with JRPG's as of late...if you want to play a real RPG i suggest anything bioware makes.
100 hours? really? could barely pull off 60...
beat nearly everything without auto-battle...the AI was pretty stupid. Orphan was especially stupid. still say combat was too simple. there hasn't been good AI since...9. but the hardest battle is still FF8 omega weapon...
real characters? please its a video game. they are all in the end unbelievable. i should clarify the real beef i had was simply i saw in each character something annoying or just a knock off of a previous ff stereotype. look hard, its there.
rinoa? ok i agree she's up there. but tifa is much better. rinoa is practically a paler, weaker copy of tifa. although i did like the squall-rinoa romance alot.
everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion...now i will disappear for another week as to avoid starting something as i've already done a few times.
