To answer Jeffrey, I'm on the Genshiken floor, and to be honest, there were only a few people who seemed really excited about the prospect who weren't already part of Anime Club. I've tried convincing my suitemates to join in the fun, but so far I've gotten nervous smiles and "Sure, maybe..." Those are just my suitemates though, there's always the others on the floor. Dunno how much this info helps, if at all. ^^'' Grrr...why are they taking up my spot on the floor then. Well, guess I can't blame them. If I were to suddenly find myself surrounded by raving otaku.....oh wait..... btw, you should decide on the person to buy the tickets. Guess Mike or Zack would be a good choice. You will likely have to give them the money beforehand so that they can put it in their bank and then use their credit card or whatever to pay. I can also pay for it if needed. All your money are belong to us. In case you need a reminder: *Update*: Alright, so I figured out how the group ticket works. Instead of charging us each say $50 for the whole three-day event, we will only get charged $45. We each save $5. If you want to check it out but not buy the tickets, go to www.newyorkcomiccon.com/en/NYAF/Tickets/Group-Tickets/, use the CODE there, and follow the directions. Pretty much the price will be listen (create a fake name or address just to get to the prices page... thats what I did). I'm guessing that we will need to use a credit card to make this purchase (please tell me someone has a credit card). I suggest that when we all have the money and if we still want to continue with the group ticket plan, we should give the money to the person who has the credit card and we shall each get the ticket. Nonetheless, I'll check with Forbidden Planet to see if they offer group tickets (although I doubt it).

Oh, I thought the group ticket was an increasing discount for every person past 10. Yeah it looks like it's just a 50->45 discount, which isn't HOOJ but a nice little discount. You can buy a few more drinks (if you're too noob to find the free ENERGY GRATUITOUS), or get another meal from the nearby pizza place. Bringing your own drinks is also smart, but heavy. Anyway, we'll talk more. It's a 5 dollar discount. I wasn't planning on using my card (herpderp never wanna use it), but I figure if nobody else can I'll be the backup.

Don't worry, I'll back you up if needed. Though I would need the people to pay me beforehand. Kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel with my account. btw, for the actual day, we'll probably meet at Kimmel and then take the subway there together. I'm meeting some people there so I may split off. But at least till we get inside the building, I'll be with you all the way. <_< >_>

I also have a card, if that counts. I know I'm not part of the Anime Club guv'ment and so I really shouldn't be handling any money. I sorta don't want to anyway, large sums of money make me feel uncomfortable (probably because I've never have any ). But if it is a problem, I'd be willing to help. I'll more than happily pay my $45 up front. \(^_^)/ I've been looking forward to this thing for over a whole year! No way am I gonna miss out! One thing that I do wonder about, though: since this is a club-organized event, does that mean we have to give out phone numbers in case we get lost or in trouble? One past event I went to required that we wear bright green shirts, have everyone else's phone and give your phone number to everyone else, and at one point actually hold hands. It grew tiresome. -.-' Is this going to be the protocol for Anime Club, because if so, I might need to go freelance. >.> Not that I don't like you guys, I just like you enough not to kill you due to a hand-holding, Sesame Street, buddy-system-induced rage.

We aren't some prissy high school club. We're buying group tickets because it's (marginally) cheaper. We're going together because we're all so awesome. We'll all probably break off into our own little groups, and/or by ourselves and/or with other people. The point of a con is to have fun, so we aren't telling anyone what to do. You can do what you like for how long you like with who you like. You're all adults and we aren't your mommies Except Jeff....he might be a mommy, idk. However, that also means we aren't responsible for anyone. I highly recommend getting a few numbers from older students, especially if you're a freshman (nothing ruins your first year at NYU than getting lost in Manhattan and having to resort to cannibalism). We won't really be checking to make sure everyone's with us (I'm sure many will leave earlier/later) especially since we expect a few dozen people. We'll probably pick a time to meet up and go and a time to head back to campus. We might line up the freshman in two lines and have them hold hands on the subway like the cute first graders they are, cause I know some of you will have not traveled past 14th street by then and be all like . That and we'll need some lulz.

Hey, to be fair, the presidential welcome was at Radio City Music Hall. =P But yeah, I suppose it's fair to say I'll be as confused as a blind kitten on the subway, having only taken it there and back xD

No you don't need to give your number to anyone(unless you want to). However, I will be giving my number to everyone that signs up to go with us as a group. I recommend everyone add me to their contacts or jot it down on a piece of paper just in case. I pick up any and every call, even ones from Canada. It's up to the individual if they want to actually stay in a group. Most new people(and old) choose to stay in the larger main group, but others will break off and just go with their friends, or on their own. I'm just gonna write a reminder more for myself than anything. When signing up for the group tickets(or to go with us as a group if you already have your ticket), we'll need your name, and email address. If you need a little more time to get the money for the ticket, you can let us know and we'll delay buying the tickets for a little bit. But there is a deadline, so we can't wait till the last minute. Also it is optional to give us your phone number. If you're concerned about oversleeping on the day of, and being late and going to kimmel to find nobody around, then give me your number. Before we leave Kimmel to go, I will check my list for all the people that gave their number, to see if they're there. If you're not there and you gave me your number, I will call you to see if your still coming with us, how long you'll take, etc. Of course if you don't give your number, I may still check to see if your with us, but I can't contact you to see if your still coming. On Friday, we will set out as early as maybe 11am(because I like to get there early). And I wanna leave some breathing space, 'cause I know at least a few people will be late. There'll probably already be a huge line by the time we get there. For Saturday and Sunday, we'll probably leave at 9am. btw, I recommend you bring something to do while waiting on line, because long line is long. You'll get bored. I'll probably bring my ds and/or psp. We'll all probably break off into our own little groups, and/or by ourselves and/or with other people. The point of a con is to have fun, so we aren't telling anyone what to do. You can do what you like for how long you like with who you like. That and we'll need some lulz. Damn straight I'm a mommy. On the trip there, we will try to wait for everybody to arrive before we leave Kimmel. But when coming back to campus, it'll be nearly impossible to gather everyone so if you break away from a group, you will have to find your way back on your own. Of course we'll help you. First off, I'm going to give general directions to and from the convention just in case. Y'know, just which subways to take to get back down to campus, etc. Your second resource is to just call me, or mike or whoever else decides to share their number. If you can't reach us, the easiest thing to do is just ask for directions. Ask people for the nearest subway station, and once there, ask mta or anyone else how to get to union square. That's a simple landmark that everyone should know. It's right on 14th st, and just a short walk to most of the dorms. Mike will likely stick with the main group, so I'm leaving you to take care of all the freshies. btw, remind me to mention all this stuff at the first meeting.

you mean Pedrobear
I think the Feds watch this board
Also, yeah, I'll be the main herder, with the help of all the upperclassmen and Chad and Luis (and Frank and Lena and whoever else is coming), but you're completely and totally free to wander. The first day you'll probably feel a little overwhelmed (even more so because of the combining with the Comiccon), but after a few hours you'll probably find your footing, maybe even argue about which panels to attend, which stores you want to browse, etc.
ALSO
Most people don't understand just how much SWEET SWEET MERCH there is to buy from the shops and shit at NYAF and other conventions. It's god-tier compared to the otaku shops and websites, I've become friends with one of the ladies who runs the best shirt shop, the one with the Attorney at LOL shirts and Magikarp, etc.
But we'll talk more at the meeting. XD

I want to go! Crispin Freeman will be there! T.T But I have a midterm that weekend and I don't have any money! If someone does my homework and pays for my ticket, I might go. Jk, but really life sucks.

CRISPIN FREEMAN IS GONNA BE THERE? HOLY CRAP!
No way that one convention center can hold all that manliness inside.
